Benefits of Santeva Microneedling Dermaroller

Microneedling (or micro-needling) is a process that involves using needles to puncture hundreds of tiny holes in the skin (yes, seriously). It may seem like the newest trend in beauty/skincare, but it’s actually been around and evolving for over 50 years! microneedling it treats everything from wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and dull skin to issues such as scars, stretch marks, and cellulite!
The purpose of this procedure:
The little holes from the needles create “microchannels” that allow skincare products, such as our potent Vitamin C Serum to penetrate and absorb into the deeper layers of skin to deliver more powerful results. These tiny pinpricks act like a bunch of mini injuries that kick skin into healing mode and stimulate collagen and elastin production. This process plumps skin and improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and pores.
Once again, collagen is arguably the most vital way to improve the look of skin, and this goes far beyond reducing wrinkles. By stimulating collagen growth with microneedling, you can also reverse sun damage and discoloration, including the hyperpigmentation that comes with melasma. A 2015 study showed microneedling to be a promising treatment for the blotchy, brownish facial pigmentation that comes with this chronic condition.
International Journal of Dermatology confirms that microneedling is a new way to achieve “skin rejuvenation, tightening, and scar remodeling,” and that it offers a “simple and effective treatment for photo aged skin” with minimal side effects and downtime.
It’s a bit counter-intuitive, but microneedling doesn’t actually enlarge pores as you might imagine piercing your skin hundreds of times would. Rather, one major microneedling benefit, or benefit of using a dermaroller, is that it helps pores appear much smaller. Microneedling stimulates collagen in and around your pores, which causes them to plump and appear shrunken, if not closed. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want smaller pores?
Did you know that only 4 to 8 Percent of that expensive serum you’re using on your face actually penetrates your skin? Another microneedling benefit is that it improves product absorption tremendously. Studies confirm that the treatment can actually help topical medications penetrate skin more efficiently, allowing you to reap the full benefits of any product. This makes total sense considering the fact that microneedling creates thousands of invisible holes in your skin that are ready to absorb products in a way clogged pores can’t. “The tiny punctures actually act like little channels, allowing topical products to penetrate better and work more effectively.
Microneedling is also effective for scars and stretchmarks. The lines that occur with stretch marks or scars are often raised, hardened in texture, and possess a different color pigmentation than the skin. The pigmentation of these lines can be light pink, grey, or purple. Since Microneedling can fill in fine lines, smooth out uneven textures, and reduce the discoloration that occurs with pigmentation issues – this treatment is definitely a great choice when looking for a simple and effective method of treating stretch marks or scars.
How to use:
Thoroughly cleanse and dry the skin. Wipe the skin with alcohol. Prior to every use, thoroughly clean the full device (please see cleaning instructions).
Apply 4-6 drops of the Santeva Vitamin C brightening serum to the face before using the roller to allow the product to penetrate deeper.
Roll the microneedling device back and forth 4-5 times in each direction horizontally, vertically and diagonally on the area you wish to treat.Apply light and consistent pressure to the full area being treated. Treatment should not be painful and should not draw blood. You will become accustomed to how much pressure you can apply without causing any discomfort.
After treatment, apply the Santeva Vitamin C Serum. Do not wash your face or apply makeup for a minimum of 4 hours.
Avoid products with high levels of Retinols, AHAs, and BHAs for 48 hours after treatment. Make sure to avoid direct sun exposure for 7-10 days and wear a Broad Spectrum Sunblock SPF 50 or higher daily.
