Glutathione is a very powerful anti oxidant and the deficiency of glutathione can be a cause for hyper pigmentation and acne and other skin problems. As with any antioxidant glutathione will rid the cells of toxic substances and free radicals as know as oxidative stress on cells.

When starting a powerful antioxidant regimen with supplements or through topical applications some people will begin to notice that their body is detoxing. The cells suddenly begin to purge harmful substances and the free radicals that were floating inside of the cells.

What is Purging?

"Purging" is the term commonly used to describe an adjustment period when you start using a new product, when your skin gets worse before it gets better. This means the skin is suddenly full of impurities that the cells were finally able to get rid of, with the help of their increased Glutathione content. Purging is a detoxification side effect from your cells becoming healthier.

Only some people will go through a purging stage during their glutathione journey, and this is because they may have more toxins within their body to get rid of. Purging tends to last anywhere from a few days to a month depending on the amount of toxins in the body. Then after the purging is over you will notice your skin become much brighter and begin to glow.

One of the most common reasons that some may purge on their glutathione journey:
Using a Hydroquinone, steroid, or mercy based cream before or during your glutathione journey,

When you are in the stage of purging during your glutathione journey use these tips to help:

  1. Drink lots of water during your glutathione. This helps glutathione to penetrate through your system better.
  2. Avoid sun exposure harmful UV's will darken your skin. If you can't avoid the sun wear clothing that will cover your arms and legs and use a 50+ SPF or higher if you are out during the day or have your windows open. And keep in mind even on a cold or cloudy day the sun can still affect your skin.
  3. Make sure you aren't re-introducing toxins into your system, for example: alcohol, cigarettes, food containing  mercy, too much caffeine, products that contain hydroquinone, steroids, or mercy in them.
